The University B.D.T. College of Engineering (UBDT) is a Engineering college located in Davangere, India. UBDT is an one of the oldest engineering colleges in Karnataka.

University B.D.T College of Engineering(UBDT), Davangere is located in the central Part of Karanataka. Started in the year1951,the college was named after the donors Brahmappa Devendrappa Tanvanappanavar (BDT), who donated rupees1.5 lakhsfor the Constraction of building. The then Maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamarajendra wodeyar Bahadur laid the foundation stone to the college building on 7th August 1951 and inaugurated the building on 24th Sepetember 1956.
Started as the only government engineering college in the year 1951 it had only one branch in Civil Engineering. Subsequentely other branches of engineering such as Mechanical and Electrical & lElectronics (in 1957), Electronics & Communication (in 1972), Computer Science and Instrumentation Technology (in 1984) and Industrial & Production (in 1996) have started. The present intake of the college from all these branches is 390 at the under graduate level. A Post Graduate Course in Production Engineering Systems Technology was started in the year 1987.
Later on, the college was transferred to KUVEMPU UNIVERSITY, as a constituent engineering college on 01-06-1992 and hence it became University B.D.T.College of Engineering. In the year 2003, seven additional Post Graduate Courses were introduced in different disciplines. Currently the total intake at Post Graduate level is 175. The college has produced about 40 Ph.Ds and many research scholars are pursuing their doctoral degree in various frontiers of Engineering and Technology. At present about 2000 students are studying in this college. As a consequence of formation of Davangere University U.B.D.T. College of Engineering became a constituent college of Davangere University on 18-08-2009. Recently with an intention of overall development of the college, government of Karnataka transferred the college to the VISVESVARAYA TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSJTY(VTU), Belgaum on 24-02-2011 as a constituent engineering college. The VTU is intended to start MBA and MCA Courses from this academic year in this college.
The institution is having highly qualified and dedicated faculty members to impart advanced knowledge in Engineering and Technology to students. Most of the faculty have acquired their Master’s and Doctoral degrees from reputed institutions like IITs and IISc
The college undertakes consultancy works in Civil, Electrical &Electronics, and other fields of Engineering.
The college was one among the fourteen institutions in the state of Karnataka to get the World Bank Aided TEQIP Project Phase-I and utilized a grant of rupees Nine Crores for improving its infrastructural facilities and enhanced the quality of academic standards. The institution is also expecting World Bank Aided TEQIP Project Phase-IT to further improve its Research & Development activities and infrastructure.
The college is approved by AICTE and Under Graduate courses were accredited by NBA in the year 2001 for Five years. Further, Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering were accredited by NBA in the year 2009 for three years. For other departments the NBA accreditation process is in progress.
The college library is equipped with good number of rare collection of old books and is further enriched with latest volumes during TEQIP phase-I.
Students of this college are known for discipline, academic brilliance, respect and love towards their teachers. The college is also aimed at providing high quality technical education to students. The students are also actively involved in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The annual cultural festival ‘CHAITRA’ is conducted which creates a plat form for exhibiting the hidden talents of students.
The institution is a member of Red Cross Society. Thern. other facilities available are Science and Technology Entrepreneurs’ Park (STEP), Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC), ISTE Staff and Students Chapters, Co-operative Society etc., for the benefit of students. Further, the institution is having both boys and girls hostel to accommodate students from outside.
The Placement & Training Center is actively involved in placing the students in reputed organizations. Various companies like TCS, MindTree, Infosys, HCL, SLK Software, SIEMENS, Nokia, Zindal etc., are visiting the college regularly. 189 students are placed in different organizations in the academic year 2010-11. Many of our Alumni have grown to top positions in private and public sector not only in India but also in other parts of the world. The college is completing 60 years of fruitful existence in 2011 and is planning to celebrate Diamond Jubilee soon.

As a lead centre of the region it also aims to provide continuing education and non formal programs adopting a philosophy of life long learning through variety of delivery modes.
Admission to this college is made completely through Common Entrance Test(CET) & PGCET conducted by Government of Karnataka Examination Authority(KEA). Selection is based on Merit and Reservation in accordance with the policies of the Government of Karnataka. CET will be generally conducted during the month of April/May of every year.
The institute organizes extra curricular activities. All the departments have separate forums like Mechanical Engineers Forum, Forum of Computer Science & Engineering etc.,
A NSS unit is existing in the college with a nominated NSS officer. Regularly organise the activites in and outside the college relevant to social awareness programmes.
The students and staff of the college are the members of the above organizations. Seminars, workshops and other research activities are constantly conducted by these organisations.
STEP-UBDTCE, was established by department of industries and commerce, Government of Karnataka, at UBDT College of Engineering. STEP-UBDTCE organizes workshops, seminars on entrepreneurship, personality development programs, IT related courses to develop IT skills, etc.,
